This little light of mine

This light fixture is in my Mum and Dad's kitchen and they made the copper frame themselves! I thought I'd share the 'how to' with you as a fair few people on my Instagram felt inspired to create their own.

What to do

1. Measure the dimensions of the area you're placing the light e.g. the kitchen table.

2. Mark up the lengths of the copper pipe with a pencil mark - 4 pieces.

3. Attach the pipe cutter around the pipe and screw it on tightly.

4. Twist the pipe and continue to tighten the cutter. Repeat this process and it will cut straight through.

5. Cut all 4 pieces to the correct length.

6. Push the copper piping into the corner joints.

7. With your frame complete it is time to hang! You will need 2 people for this.

8. One person holds the copper frame and one person wraps the lamp leads around the pipe.

9. Play around with it until everything is balanced and it hangs at the correct height ... and you're done!

What you'll need

- Cluster pendant light fitting - made.com - £79.00 -

Similar light fittings are available on eBay, at Dunelm and Next. Google 'cluster pendant light' for a similar fitting.

- Light bulb - Dunelm - £4.99 each -

Hang a mis-match of fancy filament bulbs for an extra special effect.

- Copper piping - B&Q - £11 -

We used copper piping with a 15mm diameter. We got 2m lengths for £11.

- Copper pipe cutter - B&Q - £4.60 -

There are more expensive cutters out there but for a thin pipe like this a cheaper one does the job!

- Push on joints - B&Q - £3.50 each -

If you're unsure of which joints to buy, ask a member of staff for a hand!

There you go!

I'd love to see your creations - make sure to tag me so I can have a sneak peek!
