"No thank you"

"No thank you"

"No thank you"

Busy and bustling, Seminyak is a hive of activity. Maybe not quite what you picture when you imagine Bali but lots of fun non the less. People offering massages, taxis, beers left right & centre results in you saying "no thank you" about 1726171 times a day.

As a popular & cheap holiday destination for our friends down under, parts of it can seem a little, dare I say it, 'Brits-Abroad like'. Not a bad thing! Lots of fun, cheap eats and a bar every two minutes - But if you envisaged tranquillity and empty white beaches, you're in the wrong place.

Having said that, with Bali being so small you can explore. That's half the fun of it! So a few days in busy and bustling Seminyak will tick your 'get drunk and shop' box (the interior design and independent clothes shops will have you swooning), then it's time to move to a different place with a different atmosphere.

We stayed at 'Grandmas Hotel', doesn't sound glamorous but it was bloody lovely! Cosy room, beautiful shower, central location and divine spa on the top floor .. all for less than £25 a night. If you're in Seminyak the De Nyuh Spa is a must visit. I enjoyed an hour full body massage and a honey and lemon facial for less than a tenner! The spa is stunning and the staff couldn't be more attentive. A must have treat, and much better than the spas on the side of the street, not so tranquil, and a similar price.

We spent 3 nights in Seminyak at the beginning of our trip and another 2 nights at the end. We loved it and had lots of fun but after a few days we were all "no thank you'd" out.

Our second two nights we stayed at Hotel Dafaam Savvoya on the other side of town. It was a little further out but with just a 5 minute walk we were right in the heart again. This side of town appeared to have more art shops, homeware shops (which had me wanting everything. God damn it being so far away from home) and gorgeous quirky bars and restaurants.

So there you have it, our Seminyak adventure. Take a peek at my other blogs for our other visits and keep and eye out for more posts all about Bali & travelling.
